KAPTÁR faces – Connor Feemer

KAPTÁR faces – Connor Feemer

Hi! I’m Connor Feemer! My gamer bros just call me co/fee! I can work like a frickin machine, but sometimes I just blow off some steam. Let’s just say, I have ground moments ;-) I’m totally social: always up for a great coffee and I can hardly wait for the community lunches. I’m vegan though, so the only thing I get roasted is coffee, muhaha. I usually take short coffee breaks, but „if needed“, I can let it flow a little longer. Don’t miss out on my foamy features! You know where you find me: I’m the only FIXIE in the FLEXIE area! Man, I already love being a KAPTÁRmember, this place is gonna make me boil! Learn more about me HERE!...
FUN Factory – Inspired by Ghana

FUN Factory – Inspired by Ghana

Anytime I told someone I was from Ghana they would exclaim in so much excitement “Ooohh Ghanaaaaa” and then follow with a hard deafening silence for the next seconds we are together, On days when I am lucky, they ask about our national football team and if we made it to the world cup this year and then I can say No and go on ahead to express how saddening that was, considering the fact that we were the only African Country that made it to the quarterfinals in 2010 When Matild told me about the Fun Factory I was excited about the idea in itself and then some weeks ahead of it she suggests that my Country, Ghana, be sort of the theme this time. Immediately, I started to have mixed feelings about it. If It will go well at all, if it will be fun enough, If it will be impactful enough because of course, I had to seize this 15-minute opportunity to educate us more about Ghana right!!? I called my Best friend in Ghana to help me remember some Ghanaian games and she came up with “pimpinaa” (a good one I must say) but just too long for anything that is supposed to last for a quarter hour. So here I am over that weekend still with no game in mind and then boom! AMPE crosses my mind..it is like that one game that every Ghanaian has played at least once in their lifetime but then I thought to myself that it’s a leg thrusting game, and we cannot be jumping in the happening(there’s a...
Exhibiton opening / Anniversary parties

Exhibiton opening / Anniversary parties

At KAPTÁR, we’re always game for a party. So when Jesper Kunuk Egede started a new exhibition, we thought we should have an opening party. In the end, it turned into a threefold celebration, as we had the opening party, a birthday party, and several anniversary parties! Budapest through a phone Jesper’s exhibition is called “Budapest through a phone” as all the pictures are snapshots taken with his cell phone. The pictures are from 2014 until now. “As with my pictures of Greenland last year, I don’t think of this as art, but as documentation of things I’ve met along the way. Budapest has everything and more, so my phone has become my closest ally in documenting my walks through the town. It’s so convenient to have it at hand, everytime something beautiful or funny comes up. I have also taken some quite disgusting pictures, but I didn’t think this was the forum for those,” he laughs. The pictures are 15 full frame shots, hung all over the office, and then there are 80 Instagram-style photos on two posters. See how many KAPTÁR members you can spot on those pictures! A birthday party Our dear Matild from KAPTÁR was also celebrating that night. It was her birthday a few days before, so what better opportunity than to have a few extra glasses of fröccs because of that. But Matild being who Matild is, she turned her focus on the third agenda of the night: Celebrating anniversaries Many member of KAPTÁR has been part of the community for several years by now and we thought it’s time to have a...
The first real home of Amigos for Children

The first real home of Amigos for Children

AMIGOS FOR CHILDREN (AMIGOS A GYEREKEKÉRT) is a charity organization of students. Their goal is to make the days of seriously ill children better with the useful tool of language learning. But also handcrafting, games and creating friendships are part of their everyday life. Sára Fábián made her dream a reality in 2014 – and the first Amigos were born. As the years went by, the team became bigger and bigger. They managed to improve the daily lives of the little patients at 5 hospitals in Budapest, and they felt the need to have a special place they would call their own. So they found KAPTÁR, where they turned into a team of 80 people over the past year. They also started to get active in the countryside, in Szeged as well. Now, after a seemingly short but eventful year, it is time to say goodbye though. Amigos got the opportunity to join the office of a foundation, where they will get support on every level, together with several similar organizations. Regarding this, I had a conversation with Sára, the founder of Amigos, about their KAPTÁR times. I asked Sára, what she thinks is important when you start such an organization. For her the real value is in the people, that’s the first thing when making decisions. When open-minded people, who are driven by a common goal, find each other, then a good community evolves easily. She tells me about their goals, which is to fit into a new community as a team in the next months and to find harmony. In the next years, they want to be...
