KAPTÁR success stories – András Sali

Our latest guest of KAPTÁR Success Stories is András Sali, the lead data scientist of Alphacruncher.   Hi András, thank you for accepting our invitation! Hello Bálint, thank you for inviting me! Could you please summarize in a few sentences what Alphacruncher does? With pleasure! We usually say briefly that “Alphacruncher is the platform for scientific research”. To explain this a little, we position ourselves between the consultants and the software developers. We say that we offer individual solution packages, which includes our similarly individual market knowledge and experience. What are the current projects? We work on two really exciting projects at the moment. One is an education-related software, which they use to teach various complex finance and economy terms in a way that it’s not necessary to code a lot. This will be way more complex than the video online trainings, which are popular nowadays. First of all, because the teacher is there, live on the other side, answering questions, reacting to the students’ comments and solving various tasks with them in real time… And the other one? The other software gets developed for researchers. We are planning a platform where they can connect all kinds of data and make calculations with them. Therefore their work gets much easier and later it can be utilized in education as well. This is very important because data itself is a very expensive product. The researching universities spend tens of millions of Forints yearly on them. To stay in the field of finance, this kind of data can be for example historical share prices or any other kind of financial index...

KAPTÁR success stories – Zsófia Barcza

Today’s guest of KAPTÁR’s Success Story is Zsófi Barcza, the founder of Syntesia Medical Communications and one of the ancient KAPTÁR inhabitants. Zsófi is a medical writer and mostly works for doctors and pharmacists. Thank you for joining in our invitation, Zsófi. How has all of this started? How have you found this market niche? The three words that are most typical for me are science, languages, and music. Fortunately, I went to a great secondary school and when it was time to decide about a career path, I thought I could do any of those. Eventually, I chose the medical path, because I could still deal with languages and music in my free time. Many people told me how nice it is „that a doctor deals with the arts just as a hobby“, but it turned out later that these hobbies were way too important to me. I had some subjects in medical school, which were really interesting, but the other two paths became more dominant by the end of my studies. After getting my diploma I started to study technical translation and interpretation which took 2 years…   Sorry for interrupting you, but if I got it right you have a doctors degree? Have you also worked as a doctor? Yes, I did. I worked as a doctor for 3 years. I always say that I squeezed 8 years into those 3 years after my graduation. (laughs). I graduated as a technical translator and interpreter (2years), I did a professional exam as a physician, which took me 3 years. Besides that, I did a part-time job in...

KAPTÁR Success Stories – Kray Zsuzsa

Hi Zsuzsa, thanks for the interview! Could you please introduce yourself? What should we know about you? Thank you Bálint! I studied environment research and have worked in this branch ever since, which I’m pretty proud of. On the other hand it also starts to feel natural for me, even though it is not all around the world. From this perspective I consider myself lucky. The opportunities keep coming and there is a nice work-flow in my life. Since I left University, my work has been about sustainability, raising awareness and communication. The best example for this is developing a curriculum. This sounds exciting, tell us more about it… I just did some summer camp programs for the Education Agency. These are programs of some days, for 1.-11. classes, full of activities around sustainability. Just to mention the most popular ones: ethical consumption, global outlook, eco footprint, recycling and the waste pyramid. But you know, the best waste is the one that doesn’t even arise. We’ve been hearing all over again for a while that the earth will run out of resources and that there is no way back from that. But still, I don’t really see that anything happens… Everyone knows about it, but hardly anyone notes it. By being one of the few, doesn’t it sometimes feel like fighting windmills? Yes sometimes. But I can’t do anything about it. It’s like there are different forces that pull the same thing, just from different sides. Sometimes the other side is pulling to strongly. But what can I do? I get up the next day and pull even stronger...

KAPTAR Success Stories – Krisztián Zalaba

Hi Krisztián, thank you for accepting my invitation! Hello Bálint, thanks for having me. ☺ First, please tell us a few things about you! What’s the most important thing, people should know about you? My name is Krisztián Zalaba, I usually just say, that I write and create online courses around the topic of awareness. Could you give us more details? What is the most exciting part for you and why? For me, it’s a very exciting, when I see that other people make progress in their lives and are inspired by my writings and the courses, so they can make decisions, take actions and try new things in their life. What is really uplifting for you? Reader’s letters and feedback have a huge impact on me. There is a questionnaire after every course, where people can give me feedback about how useful the exercises were for them. It’s nice to see what the things were, that made a change for people. In short, I can say, that I like the actual process the most when I can create something and at the same time it’s awesome to see, how it is affecting others. How did you start with this? I used to have a marketing agency with my brother for several years. After a while I noticed that I’m not really motivated anymore to get more clients, to enlarge the team. So started to discover what’s my actual „X-Men skill“, which comes from my personality and can be valuable for others. Then I started a little research within, I read books and took a deep look inside of me....
